Gary Brooten has more than 40 years’ experience in
communication, including 28 years in managerial and executive roles in
government, nonprofit advocacy and all aspects of corporate communication.
For 30 years he has been writing speeches, Congressional and legislative
testimony, investor and analyst presentations for CEOs and other
senior executives, appointive public officials and leaders of voluntary
organizations.
He mastered writing as an award-winning
metropolitan daily journalist covering science, health and environment for
the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Evening and Sunday
Bulletin and a freelance contributor to publications including the
New York Times Magazine.
He mastered strategic writing in
public affairs and corporate communication. He served as a regional public
affairs director for the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and as chief
executive of a state mental health advocacy organization before joining the
corporate world. For 20 years he led public relations and related functions
for a top-30 banking company, CoreStates Financial Corp. Since 1999 he has
been writing, editing and consulting as principal of IdeaGenesis, with major
emphasis on speechwriting.
